There were 10 in the bed
So since the last time I updated the blog, we have been sleeping 10 bodies in our house. It has been a busy 2 weeks, but so nice having Mercedes and Kelli from the USA staying with us, well mostly with Gran who entertained and catered for them the entire time. Added to them, we had Rob's parent's Dawn and Peter as well as Elvira (another family member) staying with us, which takes the count up to 10. Didn't even know I had that much bedding, amazing what you can find when you dig for things in your cupboard.
Whilst Kelli and Mercedes were here, the dogs fell head over heals in love with them, as they would go out and play in the garden together, take them for walks and generally just fuss them. I made them a job offer, to stay, but I think the pay wasn't quite enough.
Rob and his dad took James and his friend Nic to the motor racing at Killarney Race Track, it was about 35 degrees that day and I am so very impressed as he and Nic slathered themselves in sunscreen and did not get burnt.
Anyways now that everything has returned to semi-normal, we have started waterpolo and I do say we as it is becoming a full time family event.
Chris is no longer playing for Westerford, but is now playing for Reddam House, who seem to have the top team in Cape Town ito waterpolo. They have just finished a 3 day tournament of which their team was the winner. Although he was a reserve he did get to play a few chukka's and scored 1 goal. The whole team won a gold medal and some prizes.
The only problem with all this waterpolo is James plays twice a week int he evenings from 6 - 7 at Wynberg Boys and the other 2 evenings, Chris plays at Reddam from 4.45 - 6.30, so all I do is jump in my car after swimming and drive to and from waterpolo, never mind where and when dinner gets cooked or homework done . . .
On top of all the waterpolo, James also does swimming 3 x a week (his choice) as well as tennis, so between these 2 boys and their extra murals, I don't know whether I am coming or going, let alone trying to fill lunch boxes with sufficient food to keep them going for the day.
James had his school inter-house gala on Friday and placed in all his races, 3rd in crawl, 2nd in backstroke and 1st in the crawl relay. The kids all seemed to have so much fun and it was the first gala their school had held in their new indoor pool structure.
Mommy - where is the picture?
I know I have not been updating my blog (yes Andy), but I don't actually know where I am at the moment things are soooooooooooooooooo busy and its only February, but this one I just have to share.
Gran gave me an old instamatic camera that she was going to throw away, but I grabbed it for our dress up box. So its been lying on the kitchen counter for a couple of days and last night James sees it and picks it us to look at it as children do.
Next minute he's turned it on, opened the shutter and pressed the button at which point it makes the good old instamatic camera sound and his face looks crestfallen as he asks "have I broken it?" Of course I nearly fall over laughing and explain that this is how they work. Realising its OK, he then proceeds to turn the camera round and round and asks innocently "where do you see the picture?"
Needless to say Rob and I could hardly speak with laughing. Our poor old techno junkie kid has never known one of these OLD FASHIONED camera's, reminds us of the time he saw an LP of Rob's and when we explained what it was he said, "so its like and old fashioned CD?"
